Zendaya is featured in the Spring 2012 Issue of Glitter Magazine. She sat down for an exclusive interview to discuss similarities between her and her Shake It Up character Rocky, future ambitions, her hidden talent and much more!

Glitter: Describe the process for creating the “CeCe and Rocky” fashion line for D-Signed (at Target). What inspired your designs?
Zendaya: My character Rocky loves fashion and when our designer Jessica created the vision for Rocky, she went with a girly look, but with a little bit of edge to it.
Glitter: What inspires your personal style?
Zendaya: I am inspired by so many things. I can get an idea from a magazine, a person or even nature. I like to mix it up and sometimes go glam or sometimes go more edgy…it kind of depends on how I feel at the moment.
Glitter: What are your favorite ways to “Swag it out?”
Zendaya: For me, everyone has his or her own personal swag. It’s more of an attitude that we all have, sometimes it just needs to be brought out.
Glitter: What was it like voicing “Fern” in Disney’s Pixie Hollow Games?
Zendaya: It was a whole new experience for me. I am used to being very physical on Shake It Up but when you are just doing the voice, you have to really concentrate on conveying your message with only your voice and it can be challenging…but I really loved it!
Glitter: Do you relate to your character on Shake It Up?
Zendaya: Yes, Rocky and I are so much alike. I used to be kind of shy like her and I am still very into school like she is. We both are vegetarians too!
Glitter: Shake It Up has a considerable and enthusiastic fan base. What has been your most memorable moment with a fan?
Zendaya: Well, there have been many and our fans are simply incredible. But there was one in particular that really stands out and that’s the first time I was recognized…I was getting frozen yogurt with my mom and a little girl came up to me and said are you the girl on that new show (the show hadn’t even premiered yet, just promotions on the channel) and I said yes…she asked for my picture but then I was like, an I get your picture? ‘Cause you are the first person to recognize me!
Glitter: What is the biggest compliment you’ve received in your career?
Zendaya: I think when people tell me that I am down to earth and humble, I feel really good about that…I don’t want to be considered anything other than that!
Glitter: What would you like to be doing in 5 years?
Zendaya: There are so many things I want to do. I really want to act in a feature film, put out an album, go on tour, design clothes, write a book, walk the runway…basically everything!
